Former Panthers RB Miles Sanders plans to sign with Cowboys
Did the Carolina Panthers and the Dallas Cowboys essentially make a back-for-back trade?
According to ESPN senior NFL reporter Jermey Fowler, former Panthers running back Miles Sanders plans to sign a one-year deal with the Cowboys. The news comes a little over 24 hours after Carolina signed former Dallas running back Rico Dowdle to a one-year pact.
Sanders, who spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles, signed a four-year, $25.4 million contract with the Panthers in the spring of 2023. But he would only play out the first two years of the agreement, rushing for 637 yards and three touchdowns over 27 games.
The Panthers released Sanders this past Tuesday, before he was due a $1 million roster bonus at the end of the week. Per Fowler, the two sides attempted to negotiate a restructured deal that would have kept the 27-year-old rusher in Carolina for the 2025 campaign.
